Chicago artist Ruth Ann North has been making creative, functional art since the age of six. It was her Grandmother's button box that first inspired her. At Grandmother's Button Box, you will find unique jewelry, funky trinkets, and all sorts of tidbits!
At the age of six, I found a box of buttons in my Granny's sewing bench, and I fell in love with old things. Every aging button, bottle, or square of fabric carries a rich story of the journey it has taken. Sometimes I know these stories, and other times they remain a mystery. Either way, they stir ideas for creating something fresh out of something aged.
I started my business, Grandmother's Button Box, as a street vender in Chicago. You can still find me at the six corners in the Whicker Park
